According to a report, Chelsea have added a new condition to Romelu Lukaku’s contract as the striker looks to leave for Roma.
Lukaku looks set to join Serie A side Roma on a season-long loan, in a deal that will see the Belgian reunite with Jose Mourinho, who convinced the player to join Manchester. United against Chelsea in 2017.
According to the BBC, Lukaku’s loan includes an £8m fee, of which Roma must pay the 30-year-old’s salary.
Inter had hoped Lukaku would join them this summer, as the Belgium international spent last season with the club. However, Lukaku is said to be unhappy when coach Simone Inzaghi did not let him start in the Champions League final. Moreover, Juventus are also keen to sign the striker, who is not in the plans of Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Although there are still details to be finalized, it is widely reported that a deal to bring him back to Italy is almost done.
And according to The Telegraph’s Matt Law, although there is no obligation to buy when the loan expires, Chelsea have added a new condition to Lukaku’s contract in case he plays well in the Italian capital.
