The Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Chargers will play a crucial Week 16 game on Saturday night. The Chargers’ chances of making the playoffs are currently in jeopardy. The Bills want to maintain their winning streak, though.
Only the Peacock streaming service on NBC will carry this game. NBC and the NFL, however, announced that a historic event will occur during this broadcast. See what that is by reading on.
Commercial-Free Fourth Quarter
Ari Meirov reports that during this NFL broadcast’s fourth quarter, there won’t be any advertising. This will be the first NFL broadcast in which there are no commercial breaks during any quarter. Given that access to the game requires a subscription to this streaming service, this may indicate that the NFL is rewarding supporters who go above and above.
How much additional stuff connected to games does this add up to? It is predicted to bring in a minimum of twelve more minutes of gaming material. Additionally, there may be a 40% decrease in advertising time for this NFL game.
On top of this, the NFL plans to have a playoff game this season broadcasted exclusively on Peacock. The exact game is yet to be determined but it will take place in the wild card round.
Buffalo Bills Are Strong Favorites
For those who do not have Peacock, they may not feel like they are missing much. Why is this the case? The Buffalo Bills are 12-point road favorites in this game. That makes them one of the biggest favorites in Week 16.
There are two factors that play into this. First, the Bills are on a hot streak. They have won their last two games against teams with a combined record of 19-9. The Bills narrowly defeated the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in Week 14 on the road. Then, they blew out the Dallas Cowboys by a score of 31-10 in Week 15.
As for the Chargers, things could not be going worse for them. Last week, they had a humiliating 63-21 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. Because of this, Chargers owner Dean Spanos decided to fire their head coach and general manager immediately after the game.
On top of this, the Chargers do not have starting QB Justin Herbert due to a fractured right index finger. As a result, QB Easton Stick has tried to fill those shoes the best he can. It is safe to say that there is a wide gap between the two quarterbacks.
